Drums on the street

August 24, 2019 § Leave a comment

His drumbeats were falling on deaf ears … it seemed to me, as he passed by me on the busy footpath on Malleswaram’s Sampige road this past Thursday, around lunch time. I’d just finished interviewing a co-founder of a startup building satellites and rockets, who had his office on the third floor of a building behind me.

I was waiting for my Uber and tried to take the picture without the drummer boy noticing me, but I caught his seller’s attention and he gestured to his drums asking mutely if I might buy one. I shook my head with a guilty smile on my face. By the time it occured to me I could have just given him some money, he was on the far side of the street walking away from me.
