A father and a daughter

November 24, 2016 § Leave a comment

This sort-of poem was inspired by a photograph of a father and daughter standing next to each other, looking very happy in each other’s company — the rest was my runaway imagination:

I stand in Olympus
Feeling like my heart will beat for millennia
She stands besides me
Bathed in transcendental light, as I wonder
Did we bring her forth or did life itself
I’m no Zeus and yet my being crackles with lightning
I’m every father with a daughter — an Artemis or Athena incarnate
